Thank You

Well, after posting my little pity-part post below, I've decided I can't go to bed with that on my mind.

So I think it's time to get to the post I've been alluding to all week.

It's a thank you post.

I have been so, so, so incredibly blessed to have such wonderful friends. I've been a member of a number of message boards for several years. Some are baby related, some are not, but I've made a lot of friends- some I've met, some I haven't.

Amongst them are some baby related boards from a website: www.thenest.com where I've bonded with some girls that have shared my experiences in the last few years- infertility & miscarriage.

Well, shortly after my Pre-E nightmare began, I was contacted by one of them saying that some of the girls from those boards wanted to make a donation to try to help my family out during this rough time.

I thought it was incredibly sweet. I mean, maybe it would be 50 bucks and that would buy a tank of gas to get me back and forth to visit Robbie. I felt a little guilty and a little like a charity case, but delivering three months early really screwed with our financial plan for maternity leave, so I swallowed my pride and accepted.

A couple of days later, I was making my way through my email and my heart stopped.

I'm going to copy & paste the emails and let them tell the story.

Hi Tricia!

We've sent you two different PayPal payments with the donations of the PL/SAL/TTCAL/SAIF nesties, totalling $1200 (although I don't know how much PayPal will skim off the top!). We hope this helps a little with the challenges you, David, and Robbie will be facing. We're all sending you thoughts and prayers as well. You've been such a support to us all, and we're honored to be able to return some of that support in your time of need. Congratulations on the birth of your little boy, and we hope that the worry you must be feeling now is returned to you a thousand-fold in joy.

Love,

And my response:

Oh my Gosh..

The word.. it comes again- Overwhelmed.

Seriously.. I thought maybe 50 or 100 bucks. Enough to help with gas back and forth to the hospital after I'm discharged.

Twelve hundred dollars LITERALLY just took my breath away. I opened the first email, sucked in my breath and said "holy crap." My husband looked up (He's sitting in the chair next to my hospital bed reading a book on preemies) and said "What?"

I reminded him that some of the girls from the nest (guess he'll always know who that is now!) wanted to donate..

"Yeah?"

I said "you're not going to believe how much money it is."

He raised one eyebrow and I started to cry.. I read him the amount (I hadn't even gotten to the 2nd email yet) and he just smiled and said "You know where it's going? It's an investment in our baby."

Yet again, we're struck almost dumb by the goodness in people.. In all of YOU!

I don't know how else to say it, but thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

This literally may be a month of being able to see our son in the hospital w/o worrying about how to pay the bills.

Is it okay for me to post your screen names on my blog?

What I'd really like to do is essentially C&P this email into my blog and share the story, but if any donors prefer to remain anonymous, I'd remove their names or blank them out with stars. They certainly deserve all the attention in the world, but I know some people are a little more private about stuff. (Not everyone posts every detail of their life on a blog for all the world to see, eh?)

At the very least, please pass the email on to each and every one of them. I'm going to go post a more general thank you on the boards on the nest.. but I would really like to say a much more public thank you if it's okay.

Thank you so much.. truly, from the bottom of all three of our hearts..

Trish, David & Robbie

I shared this story with one of the chaplains at the hospital the other day. She was actually stunned speechless for a moment but then thanked me at least 3 times for sharing it with her. We talked a bit about the goodness in people and how I can see God working all around me. It seemed to boost even her and she walked away with an extra spring in her step.

People are awesome. At least.. my people are. Love you guys.
