1 day old

Just a quick update.

Robbie is doing well. He spent about 14 hours off his vent, which is good. This morning the doctors felt like he was working just a little bit too hard to breathe, so they went ahead and put him back on it, but that's to be expected. They've told us that sometimes it's hours off the vent & then back, sometimes it's days without the vent and then back. That's just the way it goes.

He is still having some trouble regulating his temperature, so they're having to work hard to keep him warm, but that's also to be expected.

The jaundice set in so they were planning on putting him under the bili lights today. Again- totally expected.

They usually expect things like blood pressure & blood glucose troubles but he hasn't had either of those problems yet, so that's great.

All in all, they tell me it was an "uneventful night." Heaven knows we've had enough events lately, we don't need any more.

As for me, I'm off the mag. Glory hallelujah! The OB resident (who it turns out went to my high school, even though he's way younger than me and makes me feel old) tells me that it'll probably be tomorrow before I really feel like myself again.

My vision is still pretty blurry, but my logic seems to be a little clearer, which is nice.

I've gotten up to dangle my feet on the side of the bed a while. That felt good. And bad, of course, because my guts sure do hurt, but nothing I can't handle.

Right now I'm waiting for a room in post-partum. I'm still in Labor & Delivery because of the mag. Once they have a room for me, though, they're going to wheel me down to see Robbie and then when I'm done, they'll take me back to post-partum.

All in all, things are going as well as they possibly can given the situation.

I've been pumping every 2 hours and am starting to see signs of production. I still haven't managed to make enough to take to Robbie, but apparently my gals are getting the message. Maybe for once my body can do what it's supposed to.

I'll update when I can and when I have information. In the mean time, keep the prayers coming because they are working, believe me.

God is good! I'm glad that Robbie is holding his own and that you're off the mag. Hopefully you are all getting some much-needed rest and enjoying an "uneventful" day. Give Tater some love for all of us.

Also, on the c-section - get some granny panties...and DO NOT USE THE STAIRS if you can help it. Trust me on this one.

I'm so happy to hear that Robbie is doing well. There will be good days and bad, but it seems like everything is keeping up on the positive side.

Congratulations again! I hope you get a nice and comfy post partum room soon!
